Art Gallery of Ontario
The Art Gallery of Ontario is one of the largest art museums in North America with almost 95,000 works in its collection. Established in 1900, the gallery is home to many famous works from the 1400s to present day, with a special focus on historical Canadian art and the art of Ontario and Toronto. Many of the AGO’s works are available online for everyone to view, discover, and learn more about art in Canada and around the world through their website via their AGO from Home program. And if you want to exercise your drawing muscles, dive into the AGO’s YouTube page and learn a new skill or discover more about the paintings we love and the artists who made them! One of these videos in particular features an exhibition highlight from last year: Vancouver artist Brian Jungen’s golf bag totem poles, and you can hear him speak about how Indigenous communities’ land lease deals with developers inspired these striking sculptures.
